Bakeries in Lakeland: Dixieland, Florida Avenue and U.S. 98

Lakeland’s bakeries sit along South Florida Avenue, from Born & Bread Bakehouse in Dixieland south to Lakeland Donuts and a Panera Bread farther south, with a second Panera and two Dunkin’ shops on U.S. Highway 98 North. Several Latin bakeries with Lakeland mailing addresses, on South Combee Road, West Highland Street and U.S. 98 North past the city line, are outside the limits and are not on this list.

How we made this list. We started with OpenStreetMap records inside Lakeland’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, and added bakeries from the state’s restaurant inspection records and the bakeries’ own sites, keeping only addresses inside the limits. We checked each place against its own website on Oct. 10, 2026. Places with no website, or whose store pages did not load, are here because the state inspected them in 2026. We left out cake and cookie chains whose store pages we could not load, home bakers who sell only by order and a donut shop we could confirm only through review sites. The list is alphabetical. Born & Bread Bakehouse on South Florida Avenue in Dixieland is a bakery of handcrafted goods, its site says, with a bakehouse counter open five mornings a week. It takes preorders online, and preordered baked goods are picked up inside the bakery at 1113 S. Florida Ave. All sales are final, the site notes. The bakery also sells its own merchandise through the site. It is closed Sunday and Monday.

Dunkin’ has three shops inside the city that sell donuts and baked goods with coffee. The Bartow Road shop lists service around the clock. The shop at 5614 U.S. 98 North shares its space with Baskin-Robbins, whose page gives the hours. The page for the shop at 3108 U.S. 98 North did not load; the state inspected it in February 2026. All three are also on our breakfast and coffee list.

Lakeland Donuts on South Florida Avenue, south of the Southgate shopping center, has no website we could find. The state inspected it on Oct. 1, 2026.

Panera Bread has two bakery-cafes inside the city, on U.S. 98 North by Lakeland Square Mall and on South Florida Avenue. Neither store page loaded when we checked; the state inspected the South Florida Avenue cafe in July 2026 and the U.S. 98 North cafe in September 2026.
