Is it on this year?
Yes. The city’s parade page lists the 2027 date, time, route and theme, and group entries opened Aug. 1. The 2026 parade, the 48th, ran on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m.
The route
The city’s parade page gives the 2027 route:
- Starts at Providence Road and 10th Street
- Travels along 10th Street
- Turns right onto Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue
- Ends at Silver Street
Floats and groups line up from 10 a.m. at 14th Street and Providence Road. The judging stand is at MLK Jr. Avenue and 10th Street.
This is a shorter route than in 2026, when the parade started at Providence Road and West 14th Street, went south on Providence, east on 10th Street and south on MLK Jr. Avenue to 2nd Street, the city said in its 2026 announcement.
What you will see
Churches, community groups, day cares, fraternities, sororities, dance and step groups, marching bands, car clubs and businesses take part, the city says. In 2026 there were more than 100 entries, judged in categories including walkers, decorated vehicles, professional floats, flatbeds, dance groups, car clubs, bands and unique cars and trucks.
Participants may not hand out anything along the route, including candy or literature, the parade committee says.
Road closures and parking
The city has not published 2027 road closures or parking. Groups line up near 14th Street and Providence Road from 10 a.m., and the parade itself uses 10th Street and MLK Jr. Avenue from 1 p.m. We will add the closure list here when the city posts it, usually in the week before the parade; check road construction and closures that week. The route is north of downtown; for downtown garages, see our downtown Lakeland guide.
