12 ice cream, custard and dessert shops at 14 locations inside Lakeland city limits, downtown, on South Florida Avenue and on U.S. Highway 98 North.
Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. Refreshed every three months.
Lakeland’s ice cream and dessert shops cluster downtown, around Lake Mirror, Munn Park and the library on Lake Morton, and along South Florida Avenue from Dixieland south. A second group sits on U.S. Highway 98 North and in Lakeside Village. Ice cream shops with Lakeland mailing addresses north of the city line and on County Road 540A are outside the limits and are not on this list.
How we made this list. We started with OpenStreetMap records inside Lakeland’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, and added ice cream and dessert shops from the state’s restaurant inspection records, the chains’ own store pages and the shops’ own sites, keeping only addresses inside the limits. We checked each place against its own website on Oct. 10, 2026. Shops with no website, or whose site did not load, are here because the state’s licensing records list them, with inspections between October 2025 and October 2026. We left out food trucks and cookie and cake chains whose store pages we could not load. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it.
