Breakfast and coffee in Lakeland: downtown, Florida Avenue, U.S. 98

Lakeland’s independent coffee shops cluster downtown, around Munn Park and Lake Morton, and on South Florida Avenue in Dixieland. Breakfast restaurants and the chains line South Florida Avenue south to Lake Miriam and U.S. Highway 98 North between Interstate 4 and Lakeland Square Mall. Several places with Lakeland mailing addresses, in Highland City and south of Lake Miriam, are outside the city limits and are not on this list.

How we made this list. We started with OpenStreetMap records inside Lakeland’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, and added breakfast places and coffee shops from the state’s restaurant inspection records, the chains’ own store pages and the shops’ own sites, keeping only addresses inside the limits. We checked each place against its own website on Oct. 10, 2026. Places with no website, or whose site did not load, are here only because the state inspected them in 2026. We left out coffee roasters with no cafe and counters inside hospitals and college campuses. The list is alphabetical. It is not a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on it. The places

Black & Brew is a Lakeland coffee house and bistro with four cafes: downtown on Main Street, in the public library on Lake Morton, on South Florida Avenue and in Lakeland Regional Health’s women’s and children’s pavilion. The library and Southside cafes have patios, and each posts its own menu.

Bob Evans on U.S. 98 North is the chain’s restaurant near Interstate 4. Its store page did not load; the state inspected it in April 2026.

Britt’s Cafe on Harden Boulevard is family owned and has served homemade food for more than 20 years, its site says. The menu has a breakfast section of eggs, sides and plates, plus lunch and a Friday fish fry.

Concord Coffee is a roaster and cafe in the Dixieland Mall plaza. Its site says parking is behind the plaza and takes orders for in-store pickup.

Cracker Barrel off Lakeland Park Drive is the chain’s restaurant and store. Its store page did not load; the state inspected it in August 2026.

Dena’s Place Diner is a diner in a South Florida Avenue shopping plaza. We found no website; the state inspected it in August 2026.

Denny’s has two 24-hour Lakeland restaurants, on U.S. 98 North and South Florida Avenue.

Divicious Deli & Coffee Shop is a deli and coffee counter on East Main Street downtown. We found no website; the state inspected it in September 2026.

Dunkin’ has three shops inside the city. The Bartow Road shop is open around the clock. The shop at 5614 U.S. 98 North shares its space with Baskin-Robbins, whose page gives the hours. The page for 3108 U.S. 98 North did not load; the state inspected that shop in February 2026.

Einstein Bros. Bagels on South Florida Avenue lists order-ahead and catering.

Elena’s Cuban Cafe on East Edgewood Drive has no website we could find; the state inspected it in August 2026.

First Watch has North and South Lakeland restaurants serving breakfast, brunch and lunch made to order, from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day.

Foxtail Coffee in the Shops at Lake Wire is a Florida coffee chain’s first Lakeland cafe. Its page lists indoor seating, an outdoor patio and a Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream counter.

IHOP has two 24-hour Lakeland restaurants, on U.S. 98 North and South Florida Avenue.

KeKe’s Breakfast Cafe has two Lakeland cafes serving breakfast, brunch and lunch, with an online waitlist, pickup and delivery. Both close on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Lucky Goat Coffee Co. is a Tallahassee roaster’s cafe in the Merchants Walk shopping center.

Mary’s Bagel Cafe on North Florida Avenue is near Lakeland Regional Health. Its website did not load; the state inspected it in September 2026.

Mitchell’s Coffee House opened in 1998 as downtown Lakeland’s first coffee shop, its site says, and serves coffee, Italian cream sodas, pastries, breakfast and lunch, with online orders.

Pressed Books & Coffee on East Bay Street is an independent bookstore of new and used books with a full coffee bar.

Reececliff Family Diner has served Lakeland since 1934 and calls itself the city’s oldest restaurant. Breakfast runs until 11 a.m. Monday to Saturday, and Sunday is brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Rogue Coffee on West Main Street has no website we could find; the state inspected it in September 2026.

Roundhouse Coffee Shop in Bonnet Springs Park serves Starbucks drinks with muffins, cookies and pastries, the park’s site says. The park is cashless.

Starbucks has eight stores inside the city, two of them counters inside Target. The six stand-alone stores list a drive-thru and outdoor seating.

Waffle House has three 24-hour restaurants inside the city, on South Florida Avenue, U.S. 98 North and Lakeland Hills Boulevard.
