Attendance zone and feeder schools
Polk County assigns elementary schools by home address. We ran a random sample of 1,817 current address points from the City of Lakeland’s address layer through the district’s Address Zoning tool for 2026-27. About 10% were zoned for Dixieland.
Feeder schools. The district does not publish a feeder list; each grade is zoned by address. Among the sampled city addresses zoned for Dixieland, the district’s tool assigns middle school to Southwest Middle (67%) and Sleepy Hill Middle (33%), and high school to Lakeland High (73%) and Kathleen High (27%).
Rezoning. The elementary zone did not change for 2026-27 in our sample. The School Board’s Jan. 27, 2026, vote set new boundaries for high schools only, according to the district’s announcement. That vote did change high school assignments here: in our sample, about half of the addresses in Dixieland’s zone switched high schools for 2026-27, some from Kathleen to Lakeland High and an equal number from Lakeland High to Kathleen.
