The Legacy Table, a formal evening marking one year of Legacy of Healing Global Institute, runs 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at COhatch Lakeland.
Survivors, advocates and supporters of a Lakeland-founded trauma recovery initiative will gather downtown on Sunday evening for The Legacy Table, a formal celebration of the first year of Legacy of Healing Global Institute.
The evening runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at COhatch Lakeland, 211 E. Main St. It is hosted by Rutherford Projects and organized by Dr. Rose Rutherford, a naturopathic doctor, counselor and author who founded Legacy of Healing Global. The institute is the beneficiary of the night.
The invitation bills it as the “First Annual Celebration of Healing, Hope, and Legacy” and “an evening marking one year of healing, growth, impact, and vision through the work of Legacy of Healing Global Institute.”
What is on the program
According to the organizers, the evening will bring together “survivors, advocates, community supporters, and individuals committed to breaking cycles of trauma and creating opportunities for healing.”
The program includes personal testimonials, recognition of people who have supported the mission, and conversations about community involvement and collaboration. The invitation lists these highlights:
- Celebrating one year of impact
- “Where Are We Now?”
- Testimonials
- A Legacy Award presentation
- A special guest appearance
- A release announcement
The invitation does not say what the release is or who the special guest will be.
Why she is holding it
“I believe meaningful change begins when we create opportunities for people to connect, share experiences, and discover resources that support their growth,” Rutherford said.
On its website, Legacy of Healing Global describes itself as an educational initiative that aims to help people understand trauma and “move from survival toward informed healing and growth.” It says its work is rooted in domestic violence awareness and extends to other experiences that affect safety, identity and stability. Its guiding principle, credited to Rutherford, is: “What remains unhealed from the past continues to shape the present.”
The invitation says the inaugural evening is made possible by private sponsors. It is presented by Fain Entertainment.
